Bankruptcy is a legally declared state of financial disability. Many consumers consider it to be a better option as it stops all the ongoing actions against them. Usually the consumers are too depressed when they receive a lot of collection calls and notices. So their first preference is to get rid of this hassle. No wonder they select bankruptcy as their option in this distress. But in reality, it does not carry positive results. According to the Fair Isaac Co-operation, bankruptcy is the worst options to choose.
If it is so bad, what are the other available options to get out of debts? Well, there are two major options. They are debt consolidation and debt settlement. You can see a small analysis of both options below.
Debt consolidation program- This program is more convenient for those who have a fair income but unable to handle multiple debts. Though credit card belongs to the unsecured debts category, in order to reduce the amount of credit card defaulters, the government has introduced unsecured debt settlement as well. You need not to compensate collateral for unsecured debt consolidation like in secured debt consolidation. Under this program, the consumer is able to consolidate several credit card bills into one bill. This avoids the need of receiving several collection notices or calls. You can secure a lower interest rate but you cannot expect discounts under this program.
Debt Settlement program- This program is best suited for those who have massive credit card debts who are about to declare themselves as bankrupts. The main advantage of this program is the fair amount of discount you receive. These discounts can range from 40% to 60% depending on the amount you owe. The interest is removed at the beginning. The purpose of this program is to reduce the amount of credit card defaulters as well as to give the creditors a chance to recover at least half of their money.
You may ask what can be the best for me. Well, it is up to you to decide because it totally depends on your ability to pay off your debts.
Finding legitimate debt settlement companies is very important. Unfortunately there are predatory debt settlement companies on the market so consumers need to know how to find legitimate services.
